It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not come up short.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was out her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
